Premgi made her acting debut in 2003 with the film Punnagai Poove.
In 2006, he made his debut as the protagonist’s friend in Slambalasan’s “Vallavan”. Later, he played the role of Seenu in his brother Venkat Prabhu’s directorial debut “Chennai 600028” (2007). The film became the biggest summer blockbuster of the year and established Premji as a comedic actor. He once again collaborated with his brother in his next project Saroja and received critical acclaim for his role as Ganesh Kumar. He played the lead role in Venkat Prabhu’s film “Goa” (2010) and later appeared in “Mankatha” (2011) and “Settai” (2013). Premgi entered the film industry in 1997 with a project titled “Wanted” starring Venkat Prabhu and SPB Charan. Despite having Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music composer and comedians Gangai Amaren and SP Balasubrahmanyam, the film is still unfinished. In 2005, he entered independent music direction with the film “Gnabagam Varuthe” starring his brother. Thereafter, he contributed to the music of Agatiyan’s “Nenjathai Killathe” and “Thozha”, in which he played an important role. He has worked as music director for songs in films such as Nenjathai Killadhe (2008), Adhe Neram Adhe Idam (2009), Maanga (2015), RK Nagar (2019) and Manmadha Leelai (2022).

Premgi made his debut as a music composer in 2007 with the song Niyabagam Varuthe. At the beginning of his career, he focused on music creation. He started out as an assistant to film music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and later ventured into playback singing. Initially, his singing role mainly consisted of managing the rap parts of Yuvan Shankar Raja’s compositions, which later expanded to include collaborations with other music composers. Apart from working with Yuvan Shankar Raja, he has also remixed songs for some soundtrack albums, starting with the song “Loosu Penne” from the film Vallavan.
