Prince William Returns to Public Duties as Wife Kate Middleton Continues Recovery from Surgery

The Prince of Wales will be invested at Windsor Castle and attend an evening reception on Wednesday

Prince William is back at work after taking time off to look after his wife Kate Middleton.

Princess Kate, 42, left hospital last Monday after nearly two weeks of care following abdominal surgery.

During that time, and since she was fired, William, 41, has been helping look after their three children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, at the family home, Adelaide Cottage, on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

William will host his first public outing since the operation in Windsor when he holds a morning investiture on behalf of his father King Charles – who is also recovering from his own surgery for an enlarged prostate – on Wednesday.

At the event, William will reward members of the public and other dignitaries with honors given in the New Year or to mark the monarch’s birthday.

Later on Wednesday, William is also due to honor one of his key interests by attending the annual fundraising gala for the London Air Ambulance. William — who was an air ambulance pilot for around two years in East Anglia — focuses much of his attention on highlighting the work of air medical teams and other emergency services and became a patron of the organization four years ago.

While supporting the organisation’s 30th anniversary in 2019, he also flew the crew to launch the 30 Years Saving Lives campaign and met staff and patients from the service at a number of fundraising events.
