Prince William shares tender moment with Kate’s mum Carole at Ascot without princess

PRINCE William shared a tender moment with his mother-in-law Carole Middleton while at Royal Ascot without Kate.

The Prince of Wales, 41, was spotted chatting to Kate’s parents, along with Zara Tindall, on the second day of the glamorous event on the social calendar.

The heir arrived in a carriage with Queen Camilla and others to start the second day of the star-studded festival at the Berkshire circuit.

Prince William and Camilla looked relaxed as they rode with the Earl and Countess of Halifax as onlookers cheered them on.

It was the first time Camilla and the heir to the throne have teamed up since leading senior royals at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in March.

Wills beamed at fans as he made his way to the track in the traditional chariot procession ahead of today’s first race.

Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall, 43, and her husband Mike were also seen enjoying the races.

Mike and Prince William were spotted laughing while hugging each other.

Kate’s parents Michael and Carole Middleton were also all smiles as they arrived at Ascot.

Carole seems to have given her daughter a subtle nod with her choice of dress – Kate loves the selfie and wears the brand regularly.

It featured chiffon sleeves with a bow at the neckline – similar to the Elie Saab style first worn by daughter Kate in 2019 at Ascot.

It comes just days after he and Kate stood shoulder-to-shoulder with their children and other royals on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

It was the Princess of Wales’ first public appearance on the Saturday since Christmas – and husband Wills stood proudly by her side.

Kate, who is being treated for cancer, revealed a day earlier that she would be at the King’s birthday celebrations, but said she still has “good days and bad days”.

The princess said she expected to be out of the public eye for “a few more months” as she continued to focus on her health.

King Charles was in good spirits yesterday as he entered Royal Ascot in a horse-drawn carriage, before congratulating the winners.

Charles, who is also being treated for cancer, will not start today, but will return tomorrow and Saturday.

These are unprecedented times – but the King and Kate stand side by side to prove they are fighting together, royal expert

Yesterday the monarch wished the runners the “best of luck” in their pursuit of the “thrill of a Royal Ascot winner”.

The King has several horses that run at the legendary British rally.

Writing together in the official programme, Charles and Camilla said: “It was an immense pleasure and joy to witness Desert Hero’s victory in the King George V Stakes last year, especially as he was bred by Her late Majesty.

“We wish all entrants this week the best of luck in their quest for that unique thrill of a Royal Ascot winner.

“We also hope that those who are here at the racecourse watching from home will enjoy five days of the best racing the sport has to offer.”

There will be seven races on each day of Royal Ascot and this year’s total prize money is worth a record £10 million.

At the King’s Trooping the Color ceremony, he and Kate stood side by side on the balcony – in what was billed as a sign of solidarity.

The royals waved to the crowd on Saturday afternoon and fans cheered as the royals exited.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said the late Queen would have been proud of Charles and Kate’s “gesture of solidarity”.

He told The Sun: “What I think a lot of people will have is the image of Catherine standing next to King Charles on the balcony.

“This can be interpreted as a gesture of solidarity and support from Charles Catherine.

“Let’s be honest. It would be very stressful to go through the whole ceremony.

“Everything is at the center of a global media storm. Britain is known for its ceremonial splendor.

“King Charles and the Princess of Wales knew very well that every public movement would be photographed.

“The point was obviously that it was something that went very well, and the picture was one of absolute solidarity.”

The heir, 41, did not attend a service of thanksgiving held in honor of Greece’s late King Constantine on February 27 – citing a “personal matter”.

It was later claimed that he withdrew from church service to be with his wife.

Kate then revealed last week that Wills was supportive of her cause – and the “outpouring of kindness” from the nation still struck a chord.

In a personal message, Kate said the “support and encouragement” of royal fans had lifted her and William’s spirits.

She said: “I have been overwhelmed by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the past few months.

“It really made a world of difference to William and I and helped us both through some of the hardest times.

“I’m doing well, but as anyone who goes through chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days.

“On those bad days, you feel weak, tired and you have to let your body rest.

“But on good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling good.”

Kate added: “My treatment is ongoing and will continue for a few more months.

“On those days when I feel well enough, I’m happy to get involved in school life, spend personal time on things that give me energy and positivity, as well as start working a little from home.

“I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade with my family this weekend and hopefully joining a few public engagements over the summer, but equally I know I’m not out of the woods yet.

“I’m learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. To take each day as it comes, listen to my body and allow myself this much-needed healing time.

“Thank you so much for your understanding and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”

A spokesman for Wills added: “The Prince is pleased to see the Princess getting back into work and projects that are important to her.

“He will continue to focus his time on supporting his wife and children while continuing to perform his public duties.”
