Prince William’s Favorite Christmas Song Was a Toss Up Between Mariah Carey and This Hit, Chosen Because ‘It’s a Bit Different’

Prince William’s favorite Christmas carol is an unexpected classic!

Speaking to the Royal Marsden Hospital radio station — where he has been president since 2007, at the start of his working royal life — the Prince of Wales, 42, told host Barry Alston that his choice was “a bit different”.

“For this particular conversation with you, Barry, I’m going to say that ‘Feliz Navidad’ is my favorite Christmas song because it’s a little bit different,” he said, adding that “I might say Mariah Carey, who I really like, as well.”

“That one is good, and obviously there are many others, but I think I’ll probably go with ‘Feliz Navidad.’ He is a little more cheerful,” said the future king, trans Mirror.

William also added that he and Kate, also 42, and their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, take part in family board game nights, citing Monopoly and Risk as household staples.

“We play a lot of board games with the kids,” Prince William said. “We love Monopoly — that’s good, and Risk, have you played Risk yet?”

“It’s a good board game,” added the prince. “It goes on for hours and usually everyone gets angry because they lose. But that’s what I like to play.”

It was long rumored that the royal family was banned from playing Monopoly after Prince Andrew once joked: “We’re not allowed to play Monopoly at home. It’s getting too mean.” While many took his joke to heart, as PEOPLE previously reported, “it’s safe to assume it was just a joke.”
