The revelation comes as Priscilla’s romance with the Suspicious Minds singer is documented in a new film Priscilla, directed by Oscar winner Sofia Coppola. The film, currently in cinemas via A24, depicts the love story between Elvis and Priscilla – beginning when they first met in West Germany at the ages of 14 and 24 respectively. Actress Cailee Spaeny, who plays the titular Presley in the film opposite Elvis Jacob Elordi, recently spoke to PEOPLE about what it was like to transform into Priscilla on set.
“They worked incredibly hard,” Spaeny, 25, said of the hair, makeup and wardrobe teams, who brought Priscilla’s classic look to life.
Spaeny also explained that while some of the wigs she wore were “difficult,” it was “actually a lot of fun” to be aware of her physical space in that way.
“It was a missing piece of the puzzle and was very informative about how I would navigate the different ages and stages of her life,” she said of Priscilla. “A beehive on your head, and with heels and little dresses you move like a doll.”

Spaeny, who also spent time with Priscilla before filming, worked to mimic her mannerisms for the film. “She’s a woman from another era,” Spaeny noted.
“She has, what you notice when you are with her, she has this softness in her. It’s very delicate on the surface, but it also has such fierceness in it.”
