Prithviraj Sukumaran was born on 16 October 1982 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State, India (41 years old as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Libra.
As the family settled in Tamil Nadu, he began his primary education at Shrine Vailankanni High School, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and then at St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. The family returned to Kerala and he studied at St. Mary’s Residential Central School in Pujapura, Thiruvananthapuram. He passed the Sainik School Entrance Examination and studied at Sainik School in Kajakottam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. After his father’s death, he entered Bhavan High School in Kodunganoor, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, to become a day scholar. He participated in various debate competitions and won them when he was a student.
After completing schooling, he attended the University of Tasmania, Australia, where he studied for a bachelor’s degree in information technology, but dropped out just as his acting career began to take off.

Prithviraj’s father Sukumaran and Mallika Sukumaran are both actors in the Malayalam film industry. Before becoming an actor and producer, Sukumaran was an English professor at a college in Nagai Koil. Some of his films include Bandhanam (1978), Kolilakkam (1981) and Oru CBI Diary Kurippu (1988). He also owns a production company called Indraraj Creations. He died of a severe heart attack in 1997. His mother Mallika Sukumaran is an actress and businesswoman who has appeared in films such as Sara (2021), Brother Daddy (2022) and Gold (2022).
His brother Indrajith Sukumaran is an actor who has appeared in films such as Meesa Madhavan (2002) and Classmates (2006). His sister-in-law Poornima Indrajith is also an actress and businessman. Some of her films include Randam Bhavam (2001) and Virus (2009). She owns a boutique called Pranaah.

Prithviraj started his acting career playing the role of Manu in the film Nandanam (2002) directed by Ranjith. The film was a box-office success, but it came after his other two films, Nakshathrakkannulla Rajakumaran Avanundoru Rajakumari (2002) and Stop Violence (2002).
Prithviraj has worked with directors like Kamal, Shyamaprasad, Lohithadas and Santosh Sivan early in his career. Some of his early career films include “Swapnakoodu” (2003), “Akale” (2004), “Sathyam” (2004), “Police” (2005) and “Anandabhadram” (2005).
Prithviraj made his debut in the Tamil film industry with the film Kana Kandaen (2005) directed by KV Anand. His character Madhan is the villain of the film. The film “Classmates” (2006) directed by Lal Jose was a turning point in his career. The character Suku, a charismatic university political leader turned diamond businessman, was much appreciated by the audience. The film was the highest-rated film of 2006 and received multiple awards and accolades.

Padmakumar, the film is a political thriller loosely adapted from Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai’s novel Enippaadikal.
