- Priya was trained in Indian classical music. She was trained in Indian classical music at Shivaji Park Vidyalaya and received professional training from Shubhada Dadarkar. In an interview, talking about her interest in music, Priya said;
To be honest, when I was a kid, I wanted to dance, but my mom signed me up for singing classes. It was her dream for me to study classical music. I was trained in Hindustani music and organ because that was the order of the day. I continued my studies till standard eight and also appeared for the entry level examination. But later, I switched to light music like Bhakti geet and natya sangeet because I was tired of aalaps and I wanted to sing some lyrics. ”
