Priyanka Chopra Recalls the Surprising Wardrobe Malfunction That Led to Her Memorable 2000 Miss World Photo

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is turning back the clock to a big milestone — which was almost derailed by a serious wardrobe malfunction!

While watching her husband Nick Jonas perform with The Jonas Brothers at the O2 in London on Monday, September 16, Quantico the actress, 42, said she was reminded of the televised pageant, which was also held at the arena.

In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, September 17, Chopra Jonas documented her night at The O2 and wrote that “Monday nights shouldn’t be this fun🤩,” before diving into “story time” about winning Miss of the world – and accidents.

“I was crowned Miss World in this arena 24 years ago. It was then called the Millennium Dome,” she wrote. “I’ll never forget my little 18-year-old, excited, nervous and competitive self, trying to look and be the best I can be.”

Then the actress revealed that a wardrobe malfunction almost made the moment even more memorable — and not in a good way.

“The memory I’ll never forget from November 30, 2000 is the feeling of balancing on pencil heels with a beautiful Hemant Trivedi dress that was falling down all evening because the body tape wouldn’t stay on because I was sweating so much from nerves,” she recalled.

“So,” she continued, “if you google pictures, after I win, I look like I’m doing namaste in gratitude, but I’m actually desperately trying to keep my dress on. 😬😂 Clearly I survived and it was all good in the end.”

She then wrapped up her post by revealing that the milestone made Monday’s concert — which she attended with her and Jonas’ 2-year-old daughter, Malta — a “full circle” moment.

“… Coming back here and watching my husband and his brothers perform with my daughter, family and friends is so full circle,” she wrote. “Life was good. Gratitude. 🙏🏽🧿❤️.”

Chopra Jonas recently discussed her Miss World win for a completely different reason. While appearing on Show Jennifer Hudson last year, the star revealed her musician husband, 32, watched her at the pageant – which took place more than 20 years before they first met – and fell in love.

“My mother-in-law said, ‘I remember watching you win,'” she recalled to host Jennifer Hudson.

“I said, ‘No way,’ and she said, ‘I remember it so clearly because it was November, Nick was in a Broadway show when he was 7, his brother was in a Broadway show when he was 8 or 9. ,’ the actress continued. “And she said, ‘I remember this clearly because Kevin Sr.,’ my father-in-law, ‘likes to watch the election. And he, I remember, was watching it and Nick came over and sat down and watched you win’.”

After Hudson asked the star if she believed their relationship was fated for that moment, Chopra Jonas replied, “Maybe.”

“I believe that people are meant to be with each other for however long your life should be,” she added. “And I think people collide because you’re supposed to create — in this little, short life that you have — memories to carry forward, a family.”
