- When Purnendu Bhattacharya was about 4-5 years old, his father used to rehearse theatrical performances at his house and Purnendu used to watch all the artists and surprisingly learned all their dialogues. In this way, his interest in acting grew.
- Purnendu didn’t want to rely on his father’s money to pursue theater and at the age of 18, he started tutoring young children. His income at that time was 50 rupees. After saving money for a period of time, he started acting in theater.
- Purnendu had always been a Bengali theater artiste and had never attempted Hindi theatre.
- In 2008, his weight was 92.5 kg. After some hard work, he lost 13 kg in 3 months.
- In 2010, he started working as a freelance health coach.

- At the age of 46, he made his debut in Bollywood.
- When he was offered a role in the Hindi film Nobody Killed Jessica (2011), he initially turned down the role as he was not interested in making films and just wanted to stay in theater. After some time, he agreed, and his interest in movies grew.
