Purnima Pandey was born on Thursday, October 16, 1997, in Gagat, Varanasi, India (age 25; as of 2022). Her zodiac sign is Libra. At the age of 10, she started practicing gymnastics in Kashgar Viamshala. She soon started lifting weights. She was not given enough opportunities to pursue weightlifting professionally and started weightlifting after joining Indian Health Association in 2013, when she was 17 years old. Later, she graduated from Suryabali College in Jaunpur. After several years of training, she began competing in weightlifting competitions in 2015.

“My father passed away in 2019 and I had to return to Varanasi to take care of my mother. Due to the epidemic, all the gyms were closed and it was difficult to continue the practice.
