Rachel Lindsay Says 2023 Was ‘One of the Hardest Years of My Life’ amid Divorce from Husband Bryan Abasolo

The former ‘girlfriend’ said she had “decided to focus on moments of gratitude” in a post shared on Instagram on Monday

Rachel Lindsay reflects on a tough 2023.

On the same day her husband Bryan Abasolo filed for divorce, Bachelor The alum, 38, called 2023 “one of the hardest years of my life,” in a post shared on Instagram.

The words followed a video compilation of clips and footage from Lindsay’s year — which was released on January 1 — with the podcaster and TV host adding that she is “choosing to focus on moments of gratitude and carrying that energy into 2024 💛.”

Abasolo, 43, featured in the compilation, with one photo showing the former couple posing at the launch of Lindsay’s novel, Real loveand another of the duo holding hands.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the chiropractor, 43, filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Jan. 1, citing Dec. 31 as the separation date and citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Abasolo also shared a post about the couple’s split on Instagram on Tuesday.

“After more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to separate and start over,” he wrote. “My parents have been married forever and I’m a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you have to let go. I wanted you to hear it from the source before the blogs start making up their own reality.”

He concluded: “Please respect the spaces of our family and friends as we figure out our next steps. Sincerely, Bryan.”

Lindsay and Abasolo met Bachelor 2017 and got married in August 2019 in Cancún, Mexico.

Weeks before news of the couple’s split broke, Lindsay admitted she and her husband live in “completely different places” during an appearance on Nick Viall’s show Viall files podcast.

Explaining how their different careers affect their relationship, Lindsay said on the December 21 episode: “Bryan is the only practitioner [and] he leaves the house at 8. He comes home at 9 o’clock, 9:30 [at night] sometimes. It’s just him.”

“Me, especially now that I’m not working ExtraI have a lot more free time … and then I’m back in the hustle and bustle of trying to find another job, and going to events,” she continued. “So we’re just in two completely different places.”
