Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth Take on the Hunger Games in New ‘Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’ Trailer

Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler team up to turn The Hunger Games into a spectacle.

On Wednesday, Lionsgate debuted an exciting new trailer for the The Hunger Games: A ballad about songbirds and snakeswhich stars Zegler, 22, as District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird and Blyth, 28, as young Coriolanus Snow.

The story is set 64 years before the events of the Jennifer Lawrence movies. Desperate to reclaim his family’s name, 18-year-old Snow is tasked with mentoring Lucy Gray in the 10th annual Hunger Games.

Lucy Gray, a skilled singer, uses her talents to her advantage, and she and Coriolanus form an unlikely bond as they collaborate on her survival strategy.

In the new trailer, fans hear Zegler’s rendition of “The Hanging Tree,” which Lawrence sang in 2014. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and made his way to Board Hot 100 chart at the time.

“Hanging Tree” is just one of several songs story from the west side Alum Zegler sings in the new part.

A ballad about songbirds and snakes is a 2020 adaptation of the novel of the same name by author Suzanne Collins. Francis Lawrence, who directed all previous films in the franchise except the 2012 original, returns to direct the previous sequel.

The director recently said Empire magazine that the character of Lucy Gray is in many ways the “anti-Katniss”.

“Katniss was an introvert and a survivor. She was quite quiet and stoic, you could say [she was] asexual,” he said. “Lucy Gray is the opposite. Wear your sexuality on your sleeve, [and] she really is a performer.”

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes in cinemas on 17.11.
