A team of international scientists has announced the urgent need to protect the genus Rafflesia, which contains the largest flowers in the world, from extinction. The team consists of botanists from the Botanic Gardens of the University of Oxford. A new study has also appeared which states that most of the 42 species are actually endangered. But, surprisingly, only one of these 42 species is mentioned in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. In addition, approximately two-thirds of plant habitats are actually at risk of extinction.

Rafflesia
Rafflesia is a beautiful botanical gem that has intrigued researchers and scientists for eons. The Rafflesia plant is a parasite. The plant is a parasite that commonly infects tropical vines in the forests of Southeast Asia. Rafflesia remains hidden from view. Comes with thread like threads.
The parasite releases a cabbage-like bud. The bud gradually beautifully transforms into a five-lobed flower that is super-giant. It also creates an unpleasant smell, but this is only to attract pollinating flies. This is why it is also known as the “corpse flower”.
