Sudanese-American journalist Rahel Solomon is CNBC’s Senior Business News Correspondent. Solomon, a former morning news anchor for CBS 3 in Philadelphia, will join CNBC in March 2019. Rahel Solomon’s career
At Philadelphia’s NBC 10 WCAU-TV, Solomon worked as a production assistant before beginning her reporting career. Rahel’s first opportunity came from some of her friends who worked there and they were impressed with her work. She has experience as a cross-platform reporter for WSAZ-TV in Charleston, West Virginia. Before joining the CBS3 News team in Philadelphia, she worked for two years with the Eyewitness News team at KCNC-TV in Denver, Colorado.
One of Solomon’s first assignments after returning to Philadelphia was the dedication ceremony for the Divine Loraine Hotel. Jim Donovan, Katie Fehlinger and Meisha Johnson, who welcomed her with open arms, made up her journalistic family and she loved working with all of them. Rahel herself is best known for reporting on the 2014 Colorado floods and the 2014 Aurora movie theater murder trial of James Eagan Holmes.
In 2015, the Colorado Association of Black Journalists voted her Broadcast Journalist of the Year. Solomon loves spicy food, especially spicy French fries, and she and co-host Jim Donovan participated in the ‘Paqui One Chip Challenge’ in 2017. In 2017, when approximately 30,000 runners competed, she ran the Philadelphia Marathon after work with a coach. Rahel likes to travel and she has already been to many European countries during her studies. The Explore the World initiative allowed him to train in Paris, Rome and Salamanca.
