Rahul Chaudhari played an important role in winning India the gold medal at the 2014 Asian Beach Games and was part of the winning team at the 2016 South Asian Games. In 2023, Rahul expressed concerns over the team selection process for the Asian Kabaddi Championship. He stated that none of the players worthy of selection have participated in international competitions. In his words,
The process of selecting the Indian team for an event is very simple – players who perform well in the national tournament are selected for the camp, while players who perform well in the camp and trials are selected for the team. But this time, I am not satisfied with the selection because some players were selected into the team without even participating in the national championship, which is unfair to other players and the rules of the sport. For example, the Uttar Pradesh team won gold at the national championships this year, but none of the team’s players were selected for the India team. The problem I have with the authorities is that the players of the winning team after beating all the other teams have not been selected and the losing players are from the Indian team. This time the selection is based on the selector’s own choices rather than following a standard. “
