Rahul Koli (2012-2022) is an Indian child actor who plays the role of Manu in the film Chhello Show, India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards Best International Feature Film Award. He died of leukemia on October 2, 2022, in Ahmedabad.

Director Panarin cast him as Manu, one of the best friends of the protagonist Samai (played by Bhavin Rabari). The film was released in Gujarat on October 14, 2022, and won the 2022 Best Feature Film Award at the 3rd International Gujarat Film Festival (IGFF) in Atlanta, USA.

In 2022, 10-year-old Rahul was diagnosed with blood cancer and is undergoing treatment. He had high fever and was admitted to a hospital in Jamnagar. After failing to recover, he was sent to Ahmedabad for further hospitalization. Rahul died of leukemia on October 2, 2022, while undergoing treatment at the Gujarat Cancer Institute. His father Ramu Koli said in an interview,
On Sunday, October 2, he had breakfast and after the fever recurred over the next few hours, Rahul vomited blood three times and that’s how my baby died. “
His last rites were performed at Harpa village in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
Facts/Trivia
- Nalin Pandya, the director of the movie “Chhello Show”, shared in an interview that when Rahul was admitted to the hospital, the entire Chhello Show team was with Rahul during his treatment. He further added,
We had been taking care of Rahul with our family for several weeks, but ultimately he could not be rescued. “
- Rahul Koli is very excited and eagerly awaiting the release of the movie on October 14, 2022. His father said in an interview that Rahul Koli often told him that their lives would change after the film was released.
- In an interview, his father spoke about the financial difficulties faced by the family during Rahul’s treatment, saying:
We were poor but Rahul’s dream meant everything to us. To treat him, we had to sell our rickshaw but when the film crew realized it, they got the rickshaw back for us. “
