He started working as an entertainment reporter for The Times of India at the age of 16. He then joined The Indian Express as a film reporter and worked there for a few years.

He also worked as a film critic and journalist for Star News and his show “Masand Ki Pasand” which reviewed Indian films on Star News was very popular. In 2005, he joined the English news channel CNN IBN as a journalist. His news TV show “Now Showing” was very popular for reviewing different genres of films. He worked with CNN IBN for almost 15 years and after his contract with the channel ended, he joined the talent management company “Dharma Cornerstone Agency” as the COO. His news TV show “Rajeev Masand Ki Pasand” was aired on IBN7 and was very popular.
