Profession
fashion designer
Rajesh Pratap Singh started his career in 1997 with the launch of his menswear and womenswear brands. Pratap’s spring/summer collection at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) 2006 received widespread acclaim. The designer’s summer collection features vibrant lemons and yellows mixed with rich reds. The collection also experimented with yoke, ribbing and sequins. The unique originality of each piece is the collection’s most striking quality. In 2007, Wills Lifestyle debuted Rajesh Pratap Singh’s Wills Lifestyle collection at India Fashion Week, where the designer designed a range of men’s and women’s wear with his unique minimalist aesthetic. Shirts, jackets, blouses and other separates for men, shirtdresses, tunics, blouses and evening gowns for women. The collection is designed to suit both formal and informal occasions.
Later in 2008, Rajesh launched his Spring/Summer 2009 collection at Paris Fashion Week. The use of textiles such as cotton and organza is the focus of the collection. The designers also experimented with the color palette, incorporating bright hues like fuchsia and coral. The pieces are praised for their wearability, clean and structured cuts. In 2009, Pratap presented his Autumn/Winter collection at WIFW titled “Valentino Rossi meets Mother Teresa”, “Bike Jacket Meets Saree”, depicting a glimpse of India to the West in a new way. The color palette is predominantly black with undertones of electric blue, magenta, and red. In 2010, the designer used the concept of “Bespoke Tales” to represent the evolution of the art of tailoring as observed by tailors. The finale autumn/winter collection “Us and Them” was unveiled at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week and represents a non-industry perspective on the fashion industry. The color palette is dominated by black, red and blue, and there are separates such as dresses, jackets and trench coats. In 2011, the designer’s autumn/winter collection “Architectural Romance” at WIFW was extremely adventurous. The collection’s color palette is dominated by black and white, with bubble silhouettes and reverse snap effects. The collection includes floral embroideries, leather and felt appliqués, pixelated leather sequins and some exquisite materials that the designer himself calls Aluminum Ikkat.
Pratap also showcased his collection at the finale show of Dubai Fashion Week 2011. Rajesh Pratap Singh has a retail presence in the country with six flagship stores and select multi-brand boutiques. The brand is sold in several select boutiques around the world.
