Rana stirred controversy in May 2022 when his fiancée Jumoni Rabha arrested him. He was working as a Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in Assam and was caught taking money from people and promising job opportunities in the ONGC organization in return. Jumoni filed an FIR against him and arrested him after knowing the truth. In an interview she said of him:
I am grateful to three people who came to me with information about him (Rana Pogharg) and showed me what a liar he was. They opened my eyes. ”

- A month after Rana’s arrest, his fiancée Jumoni had to face corruption charges against two contractors, Ram Abatar Sharma and Ajit Bora It was revealed that they paid her Rs 50 lakh and Rs 13.72 lakh respectively. As a result of these charges, she was transferred to Kaliabor police station. On June 5, 2022, she was arrested by the police. She spoke about her arrest in an interview and said it was a plot against her.
