In the late 1980s, Ranjith produced skits and TV serials for the Doordarshan channel. Ranjith made his screenwriting debut with the Indian Malayalam film Oru Maymasa Pulariyil (1987). He wrote the story of the film “Orkkapurathu” (1988). Some of Ranjith’s other films include Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal (1989), Pradeshika Varthakal (1989), Pookkalam Varavayi (1991).
