Cadarrius Pride, also known as “Superstar Pride,” was arrested by police Wednesday following a fatal shooting incident in Sardis, where 40-year-old Marcus Wheatley lost his life.
The Panola County Sheriff’s Office received a call for assistance at a residence on Highway 25 North around 12:30 p.m., and upon arrival found Wheatley dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
During their investigation, Pride was quickly identified as the prime suspect. The rapper behind the song “No Knife No Gun” voluntarily turned himself in to authorities shortly after.
“Sheriff Shane Phelps, along with PCSO deputies, initiated a fugitive investigation to locate Pride and take him into custody,” the statement read in part. “During the investigation, Pride’s family members contacted Deputy Chief Reginald Lantern, who informed him of Pride’s intention to surrender. At 4:47 p.m., Pride surrendered to Chief Lantern and was subsequently transported to the Panola County Detention Center.”
