Rasti Farooq is a Pakistani actor, writer and producer, best known for his role as Mumtaz in the critically acclaimed Lollywood film Joyland.

Rusty Farooq was born in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Soon after completing his studies, Rusty enrolled at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Lahore. Rusty has been fascinated by acting since childhood and participated in various school plays and debates. In an interview, she spoke about this and said:

I remember from a very young age, I always wanted to be on stage. I used to participate in debates and skits at school. Most people get really nervous being on stage, but I love it. Then I just focused on studying because I thought acting was a career (laughs). But I loved the stage, so I was doing theater in Lahore as well, and I met Syed Sadiq. He was making a short film when we were in college and I did that. I met more directors and filmmakers like Tabish Habib and Kanwal Khoosat, and I made more short films and feature films until Joyland Appear.

Rusty was the first person I sent the script to, and she was the last one to be cast. I sent her the script when I had no money.
