Raul Julia was a Puerto Rican actor. He first performed locally for a while before actor and entertainer Orson Bean moved him to New York. Being bilingual from a young age, Julia quickly developed a passion for Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.
In the off-Broadway hit Your Own Thing, an adaptation of the rock opera Twelfth Night, he took on the role of Orson. He participated in traveling productions, such as the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater.

Unknown to the general public, Julia underwent stomach cancer surgery three years before his death. He became ill from a foodborne illness in early 1994 while filming The Burning Season in Mexico.
In order to get medical help, Julia was transferred to a hospital in Los Angeles. On the evening of October 20, 1994, Juliá suffered a stroke, fell into a coma, and was put on life support.
After four days of complications from a stroke, on October 24, 1994, Julia passed away at the age of 54. She no longer regained consciousness.

He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he developed his passion for performing while still at school, and after finishing his education he continued his acting career. Before marrying Julia’s father, an electrical engineer educated at Trine University, his mother was a mezzo-soprano who sang in the church choir.
Career
Julia subsequently began acting in various plays that were staged in San Juan. He participated in a production of Macbeth that was staged in a city-owned colonial mansion to mimic the setting of the play.
Lillian Hurst persuaded him to perform with her after he joined the Lamplighters, despite his parents’ disapproval, and he eventually got a job at the El Convento Hotel.
His first job was as Astolfo in Pedro Calderon de la Barca’s Life Is a Dream, which qualified him for an Actors Equity card from the Actors’ Equity Association.
