In 2001, Reena Gupta began working as an NRM Assistant at Oxfam America in Boston, Massachusetts, where she served until 2003. She subsequently worked as a natural resource management specialist at the World Bank in New Delhi from 2003 to 2011 and as a freelance consultant in 2011. From 2011 to 2020, she focused on issues related to the environment and sustainable development.

One of her major achievements was creating laws for companies like Uber and Ola Cabs to switch to electric vehicles and meet annual targets; she also encouraged neighboring states and the federal government to do the same to promote the use of electric vehicles. In 2021, she created the Green Delhi app and Green War Room, allowing residents to report localized pollution.
