Rehenuma reportedly began living apart from her husband after the couple split in 2016, and she was allegedly kidnapped again in 2019 and forced into prostitution. In 2021, it was reported that Rehenuma filed a complaint with the Santacruz police station in Mumbai, and Bharti in her application on September 24, 2021, alleged that her husband forced her to have sex with a man between 2011 and 2012. Two months after complaining to the police, Rehenuma publicly accused her husband of forcing her into prostitution for more than 15 years. Bharti also revealed that her husband Riaz blackmailed her with sensitive photos and videos of her and threatened to kill her and their two children if she refused to comply with his demands; however, no FIR was registered district. Renuma added in the interview,
I have been trying to get the police to register an FIR but they refuse to cooperate. My application was submitted in September and it is already November. “
