Remya Nambeesan was born on Wednesday, January 1, 1986, while some sources state that she was born on Monday, March 24, 1986 (age 37; as of 2023) in Chottanikkara, Cochin, Kerala. She studied at Mahatma Gandhi Public School in Ambadhimala, Chotanikara. She graduated from St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam with a BA in Communicative English. She was trained in Carnatic music and classical dance.

Thereafter, she played supporting roles in Sathyan Anthikad’s satirical film Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka (2001), R. Sarath’s art film Sthithi (2002), again directed by R. Sarath, and in films such as Gramophone (2003) and Perumazhakkalam (2004). Directed by Kamal. She collaborated again with Sarath for the third time in the short film Bhoomikkoru Charamageetham (2006), based on a poem by ONV Kurup. Her first leading role was in the 2006 film Aanachandam, in which she played a bold dance teacher.

Remya is critically acclaimed for her roles in Traffic (2011) and Chaappa Kurishu (2011). She also made guest appearances in “Bachelor Party” (2012) and “Ivan Megharoopan” (2012). She also appeared in Saji Surendran’s comedy films Husbands in Goa (2012) and Oru Yathrayil (2013). Remya is also a part of Disney+Hotstar’s web series Dayaa (2023).

- Remya started acting in films while studying in the ninth grade.
- In an interview, Remya talked about her serious relationship. She mentioned that once she became famous in the industry, a rift developed between the couple. Non-industry insiders cannot adapt to the busy life of an actress. Remya said they decided to end their relationship and remain friends.
