Renuka Singh Thakur joined Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Girls Residential Academy in Dharamshala in 2009. Her uncle Bhupender Singh Thakur, who was a physical education teacher at the Government College in Shimla at the time, encouraged her to play cricket. Later, Renuka Singh Thakur represented Himachal Pradesh Under-16 and Under-19 teams. She was subsequently selected by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the women’s one-day tournament in 2019. She was subsequently selected for the Indian women’s national team for the tour of Australia. Later, she played in the matches against Bangladesh and Thailand, taking three wickets in four matches.
