RHONY's Rebecca Minkoff Ditched Menstrual Cups After a Sneeze Caused a 'Murder Scene': 'It Shot Out'

Fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff spared no expense when she told her The Real Housewives of New York Costar Sai De Silva Why She Ditched Menstrual Cups

Cups are an alternative to traditional pads and tampons, they are mostly made of silicone, and are inserted into the vagina as a physical barrier that collects menstrual blood.

But as Rebecca, 42, explained on the Oct. 15 episode of the Bravo hit, her experience with the cup wasn’t what she expected.

“My friend was all about the mug,” Rebecca told Sai, “You know, the mugs you wear when you’re…”

“Diva cup?” confirmed the 43-year-old creator of fashion and lifestyle content, talking about the popular brand.

Shocked, Sai covered her mouth with her hand.

“I’ll never put something like that on myself again,” Rebecca said. “Can you imagine?”

“Wait, did it look like a murder scene?” an amused Sai asked, making Rebecca reply with a laugh, “Yes!”

The Diva Cup website says that there are different cup sizes, and when inserting, they should always be angled towards the coccyx to create a seal.

But like The New York Times points out in an article about menstrual aids, every time you “strain your lower abdominal muscles” — such as when you use the bathroom — the device can “empty itself.”

The outlet notes that it “can be a challenge” as it can happen “when you sneeze or smile too much” – as Rebecca revealed.

The menstrual cup fiasco wasn’t Rebecca’s only no-holds-barred confession in the episode; She shared that she lost her virginity to ex Brad at the age of 16 – the result of an unconventional deal she made with her parents.

“They said, ‘If you don’t do drugs, we’ll get you birth control pills.’ And I said: ‘Sign me up!’ Minkoff revealed, eliciting shocked reactions from her teammates.
