Richa Manabendra Ghosh was born on Sunday, September 28, 2003 (19 years old; as of 2022) in Siliguri, West Bengal. Her zodiac sign is Libra. She attended school at Sister Margaret Nivedita English School in Siliguri. In February 2020, she made it to the national team for her impressive performance in the 2020 Challenger Cup. Richa Ghosh was born into a Bengali family. Her father, Manabendra Ghosh, was a club-level cricket player in his youth and she used to play with him. Later, he worked part-time as a cricket umpire in Bangladesh. It was her father who sparked Richa’s interest in the sport by taking her to the cricket field at a very young age. Richa’s father used to train her when she was a kid and she learnt his aggressive batting style. In 2016, Richa’s father had to shut down his business to be able to take care of his daughter’s cricket training. In an interview, he said:
I have to give her all my time. I can’t open a shop and then shut it while I’m travelling. It takes 12-13 hours to reach Kolkata. If she is in Kolkata for any tournament, I pack my bags quickly. She is a little girl and we can’t leave her alone.”
Her mother Swapna Ghosh is a housewife while her elder sister Shomasree Ghosh is a media science graduate.

In 2018, Richa Ghosh made her T20 debut for her hometown team Bangladesh in the senior category. In the 2020 Women’s T20 Challenger Cup, she caught the attention of the national selectors and scored 98 runs in four matches, playing a major role in India B’s qualification to the final. Ghosh was subsequently selected in the 15-man Indian squad for the 2020 Women’s T20 International World Cup, but she did not get a chance to play in any matches. She eventually made her T20 International debut on 12 February 2020, at the age of 16, in the final match of the tri-nation Women’s T20 series in Australia. In 2022, she was part of the Indian Women’s squad for the 4th One-Day International against New Zealand Women in Queenstown, where she scored 52 runs off 26 balls, a century that is the fastest fifty by an Indian batsman in a Women’s One-Day International.
In February 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought her for Rs 1.9 crore at the first WPL auction.
