In 2008, 17-year-old Rikant Pittie began his entrepreneurial career. He and his brother Nishant Pitti decided to create a travel portal called Duke Travels for people who were unable to book flights online. Initially, their father financed their venture and later their family and friends helped them. Thereafter, when the company started making headway, Air Deccan approached them to become their travel partner. Since then, Duke Travel has changed its name to EaseMyTrip and has become a well-known travel booking brand.
EaseMyTrip Private Limited was established on July 20, 2012. According to sources, in 2019, the company had 42,000 travel agencies, 1,200 franchise stores, 640 white label solutions and 1,600 distributors. In 2019, in addition to India, the company also expanded markets in the United Arab Emirates, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and other countries. The company partnered with other travel companies such as Oyo Rooms, Airbnb and Yatra in 2021 to form the Coalition for Hospitality, Technology and Tourism (CHATT).

In 2019, travel company MakeMy Trip filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against EaseMyTrip in the Delhi High Court. They accused EaseMyTrip of using the brand name “makemytrip” as Google AdWord to boost its ranking. In 2022, Pune-based udChalo filed a lawsuit against EaseMyTrip in the Delhi High Court, claiming that the company used udChalo’s keywords and AdWords.
