RKS Badauria

Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria is an Indian Air Force personnel who was appointed as Chief of Air Staff in September 2019; after BS Dhanoa retired from the same post.

RKS Bhadauria was born in a village near Agra. Mr. Bhadauria is an alumnus of the National Defense Academy, Pune. He also holds a Master’s degree in Defense Studies from Bangladesh Command and Staff College.

Profession

Mr. Bhadauria was commissioned into the Fighter Squadron of the Indian Air Force on June 15, 1980. Since joining the Indian Air Force, he has held many important assignments including Commander, Jaguar Squadron at Forward Bases in the Southwest Region and Commander, Flight Test Squadron, Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment. He also served as the chief test pilot of the Tejas LCA project and the project director of the National Flight Test Center.

In addition to these positions, he also served as the Director of the National Defense Academy and the Senior Chief of Air Staff, Central Air Command. Mr. Badauria served as the Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force from January 1, 2016 to February 28, 2017. From March 1, 2017 to August 1, 2018, he served as Commander-in-Chief, Air Force (AOC-in-C) under the Southern Air Command. Mr. Badauria served as the Air Force Commander-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Training Command, from August 1, 2018 until his promotion to Chief of Air Staff in September 2019. On September 30, 2019, he took charge as the 26th Commander of the Indian Air Force.
