Rob Lowe Teases Three-Episode Arc for 9-1-1: Lone Star's Train Derailment Story Arc (Exclusive)

Rob Lowe is more than ready 9-1-1: Lone Starnew season!

It’s been a year since the season four finale aired, and Lowe, 60, who plays Captain Owen Strand on the show, told PEOPLE about fans’ growing excitement for the show’s return in the fall.

“I hear it in the world, people saying, ‘When is he coming back, Captain Strand? What’s going on?’ I’m happy we’re back with this crazy three-part special — a train derailment,” says Lowe at Fox’s first red carpet event at The Ritz-Carlton, New York, NoMad on Monday, May 13.

The actor says the new set is “everything”.

“I mean, first of all, you just can’t believe how big it is,” he explains. “I’ve been taking pictures on the set, videos on the set and sending it to everyone I know, but you just can’t believe this isn’t a $200 million movie — it looks like it.”

“That we’re able to do that and deliver it like that, as an actor and a producer, is something I’m very proud of,” adds Lowe. “I put that up against anybody. It’s impossible to do what we do on a weekly basis, but we do it, and I love that people love it.”

Along with wearing various hats 9-1-1: Lone StarLowe worked on Season 2 for Netflix Unstablepremiering on Thursday, August 1 and The floorgame show that he produces and hosts, and which was recently renewed for two more seasons.

He tells PEOPLE he’s managed to juggle his busy schedule with “a lot of sleep” and “meditation.”

“I’m working out, you know, going out. I’m wall to wall here in New York, but I’m going to make sure I let my tank out in Central Park,” he adds. “So, and then you know, go home to my lovely wife and dogs and see my boys when I can. Happy as a little shell!”

Fox confirmed in a video on Instagram that filming for Season 5 of the series began in March.

The video showed Lowe standing behind his cast as he grinned from ear to ear, telling the camera, “Hey everyone! 126 is back to work, and I’ll see you this fall on Fox.”
