Robert Downey Jr. is having fun with critics as he is named this year’s Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards.
The star, 58, won for Oppenheimerv. Sterling K. Brown for American fictionRobert De Niro for Killers of the flower moonRyan Gosling for BarbieCharles Melton for May December and Mark Ruffalo for Poor people.
Downey Jr. he used a good portion of his speech to hilariously read off a list of comments he said the Critics Choice Association had made about him in the past.
“The first is something like a haiku: ‘sloppy, sloppy and lazy.’ The second is more metaphorical: ‘Like Pee-wee Herman coming out of a coma,'” the actor said.
“This was from a Brit: ‘A puzzling waste of talent,'” he continued, putting on a British accent, ending with, “And finally—and this one stuck—’fun as a bed-locked fart.’ ”

Along with Downey Jr.’s nomination, Christopher Nolan’s film is competing in 12 other categories.
