Robert Downey Jr. Roasts Chris Hemsworth as the 'Second-Best Chris' in Funny Walk of Fame Tribute

Robert Downey Jr. brought the jokes to Chris Hemsworth’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony.

The actor, 59, paid tribute to Hemsworth, 40, as the Thor actor received his star on Hollywood Boulevard on Thursday (May 23). Downey brought with him a list of “roasts” from other Marvel actors, each describing him in three words.

“First of all, [Jeremy] Renner says ‘absurdly boring amazing.’ [Mark] Ruffalo gave a strong performance with ‘Friend from Work’. It’s a callback, I get it now,” Downey Jr. told a crowd that included Hemsworth Furiosa: The Mad Max Sagadirector George Miller, actress Anya Taylor-Joy and the Hemsworth family.

He continued, “Scarlett [Johansson] got to the heart of the matter with the ‘sensitive leading lady’. Captain America [Chris Evans] calls him ‘the second best Chris.’ ”

Hemsworth and Downey portrayed the two main Avengers superheroes, Thor and Iron Man, alongside Evans, 42, Johansson, 39, Renner, 53, and Ruffalo, 56. Hemsworth most recently played Thor in 2022. Love and thunder.

“Chris is a little scary to describe. He’s very inscrutable because of the pretty packaging. However, upon further inspection, he has real brains and depth of soul, and it’s been a real pleasure to meet you for many years,” Downey said in his speech. “You keep us Hollywood people on our toes because you’re a real dude.”

Hemsworth’s Walk of Fame ceremony comes right before his new movie Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga opens in cinemas. Downey began his speech by telling the large crowd on Hollywood Boulevard to believe Furious will “be a 2024 movie.”

“I’ll watch it three times. I want a commitment that everyone will see it three times — it’ll be like ‘Barbenheimer-Plus.’ I want you to go to one theater and watch this movie three times instead of three other movies,” he joked.

Hemsworth’s wife Elsa Pataky and their three children – India Rose, 12, and twins Sasha and Tristan, 10 – were also present at Thursday’s ceremony. The actor shouted out Pataky, 47, during his own speech, paying tribute to his wife of more than 13 years for putting aside her own acting career to support his.

“Fact [is] that nothing I do, any of these moments, these special occasions and events, none of it is special without you by my side,” Hemsworth said. “I love you.”
