The cause of death has not yet been announced.

His last Instagram upload – a dimly lit selfie shared on January 28 – was captioned: “Hiding in the Shadows”.

The following day, the Strictly star responded with three love hearts to Deborah Meaden’s tweet on X/Twitter.

She wrote: “11 years after doing @bbcstrictly together this is happening and it’s just beautiful!! The lovely @Robinwindsor and my mum (yes…87 and amazing!!) meet in South Africa…don’t you just you love it.”

The Robin and Dragons’ Den star made it to week five of the 2013 series.

The dancer previously revealed how he found love with X-Factor star Marcus Collins after taking advice from Deborah Meaden.

Robin and Marcus started chatting on Twitter, leading to a three-year relationship.

Marcus spotted the picture of Robin on the cover of Gay Times on the social network and decided to tweet him.

Then Robin explained: “Marcus tweeted me to say ‘You’re looking really good, well done’!

“We first met at the ITV studios a few years ago, when I passed Marcus in the corridor and asked for a photo because he was so handsome.

“Since then there was no contact until I appeared on the cover of GT.

“After my last relationship ended, I was on my way back and on the warpath thinking, I have to find a boyfriend.

“Deborah Meaden told me to pull myself together, concentrate on work, forget about men and enjoy life. As soon as I did that, Marcus showed up.”

Outside of Strictly, Robin has also performed in the West End and Broadway.

STRICT HEART

The dancer described losing his Strictly job as “the worst thing that could ever happen”, after his health battle was revealed.

He spoke about his forced exit due to back surgery.

Speaking at the time, he said: “Leaving Strictly wasn’t my choice. I had a terrible back operation and they decided they didn’t want to call me back next year.

– It was probably for health and safety reasons, if something happened, but I was physically ready.

Robin has also worked closely with the Sane Charity, a helpline that supports those struggling with their mental health.

He previously told the charity: “After four amazing years on the show, I had a bit of an accident on my back and had to have an operation and ended up losing my job on Strictly.

“It was probably the worst thing that could have ever happened to me because it took away what I loved most. I loved being on Strictly more than anyone who was there.”
