The singer, who dated Kate Moss from 2005-7, said he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year.
The condition increases the risk of serious problems with feet and amputation.
Last spring, he said, “I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I am currently missing the discipline to fight cholesterol.”
He is believed to be more threatened by the years of drug abuse.
He said in 2022: “I pushed the boundaries. There were close calls.
“I almost lost such legs and horrible things. It was very close, just for injecting.

“That happens when you run out of veins.
“All this seems like a long time ago, but it was a hell of a ride.”
In November 2023, he said that years of addiction took their toll.
Months before the diabetes diabetes, he told Louis Theroux: “You look at a very sick man. I beat him up, pierced him.
“Heroin and crack surrendered to that. Then it was cocaine, smoking and alcohol.
“Now there is cheese and sauson, and sugar in tea … all this has to go.
“They told me some time ago if you didn’t change your diet, you’ll have problems with diabetes and cholesterol. Death is lurking.”
Diabetes UK said, “Over time, high blood sugar levels can damage the vessels that supply nerves in your legs.
“This stops nutrients that reach the nerves. You can lose the feeling – peripheral neuropathy – and damage your feet without remark.
“Blood supply on the legs is also reduced. The cuts and ulcers can fight for treatment. You may get cramps and pain.
“Not left, these problems can lead to foot ulcer, infection and, in the worst case, amputation.”
