Rod Stewart celebrates his 80th birthday with a familiar face: longtime friend and Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood!
Just over a week after marking his milestone birthday on January 10, Stewart stepped out with Wood and their wives for a glamorous night out, which the Rolling Stones rocker celebrated on social media.
“🥳😎🎂Really fun night to celebrate Rod’s 80th birthday!” Wood, 77, captioned an Instagram post of him and Wood posing with wives Sally Wood and Penny Lancaster.
The musician also shared a video of him and Stewart laughing together, as well as a photo of the “Maggie May” singer proudly rocking a green and white “Birthday Bhoy” button, which featured the logo of his favorite football team, Celtic FC Wood’s Soundtrack to Instagram Stories was Stewart’s 1972 hit “You Wear It Well”.
In her own post, Sally, 47, revealed that the special occasion was actually a surprise party on January 18 for Stewart by Lancaster, 53, whom he married in 2007.
“Last night with @sirrodstewart @penny.lancaster @ronniewood at Sir Rod’s 80th birthday party ~ the best night. Thank you @penny.lancaster for being the best surprise party planner ever, we love you both 💕🎂🎁🎈🎂🥳,” she captioned her post.
Other participants in the exhibition were British TV presenter and band leader Jools Holland, with whom Stewart released a joint album in 2024. Swing fever.

Stewart, who is due to perform at the Glastonbury music festival in June, and Wood are long-time friends who play together in Faces. Although the group hasn’t released a new album since 1973, Stewart said in a recent interview that the group has discussed recording new music.
The Grammy winner marked his birthday with an Instagram post featuring a series of throwback photos of himself.
“Thank you everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes – 80 years young! 🥂,” he captioned his post. “What an incredible journey it has been – from unforgettable moments on and off stage to earning some truly special honors along the way. But above all, my greatest joy has always been performing for you. Cheers to the memories we’ve made and the ones yet to come! #80YearsOfRod”
Wood also shared a number of photos of himself with the star, captioning his post, “Happy 80th birthday @sirrodstewart! My longtime friend has a big birthday today! Join me in wishing him a wonderful day 😎❤️”
Lancaster, meanwhile, called Stewart his “darling” and wrote that she was “so blessed to share this day with all of our children.” We are building more memories that we will carry with us into the future and that we will hold in our hearts forever, I love you xx.”
