Rory McIlroy’s ex-wife Erica Stoll has been seen for the first time since the professional golfer filed for divorce.
McIlroy, 35, filed for divorce on May 13 in Florida, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. He and Stoll (36) were married for seven years.
On May 16, Stoll was seen in Jupiter, Florida without her engagement ring.
The former PGA employee looked casual in black leggings, a gray shirt and oversized sunglasses on top of her head with her hair pulled back in a ponytail.
Stoll wore thin bands on her index and ring fingers and a white Apple Watch on her wrist as she rummaged through a tan shoulder bag and clutched a reusable water bottle during the outing.

McIlroy was also seen without his wedding ring after checking in while practicing at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky on May 16. The golfer looked focused in a baby blue polo shirt and gray trousers as he prepared for the ongoing PGA Championship.

Before the split, Stoll regularly attended her husband’s tournaments, from officiating at the 2023 Masters Par 3 event to cheering him on at the Ryder Cup.
In October, Stoll was photographed wearing an engagement ring while seated with McIlroy at the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, Italy.

The couple met during the 2012 Ryder Cup when Stoll was working as a tour bus driver. At the time, McIlroy was dating tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. McIlroy and Wozniacki got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2013, but he called it quits a few months later.

His relationship with Stoll turned romantic in 2014. About six months after they began dating, McIlroy spoke candidly about his “love life” in an interview with Times of London.
“I’m very happy in my love life. We haven’t really dealt with it. She’s from America, which is why I like spending time in Palm Beach… The past six or seven months have been really nice. That part of my life is going great,” he said. is.

The golfer proposed to Stoll in December 2015 during a trip to Paris. In the 2016 interview The Independentsaid McIlroy, “What I love about it is that we were friends before anything romantic happened.”
McIlroy explained to the paper that he “found it refreshing” to be with someone “who lives a normal life” and that he “can talk to her about anything”. He added: “We ended up spending some time together and realized there was something more.”
McIlroy and Stoll married at Ashford Castle in County Mayo, Ireland on April 22, 2017. They share one daughter, Poppy, who was born on August 31, 2020.
