Rose Ayling-Ellis brought Strictly Come Dancing audiences to tears in 2021 when she performed the touching Couple’s Choice track with Giovanni Pernice on Clean Bandit Symphony.
The heartwarming dance routine was quickly hailed as Only Best performance ever. The pair, who won the BBC series that year, paid their respects and raised awareness among members of the deaf community as the music stopped as they continued to dance in silence. .

Despite receiving many compliments and compliments for the dance, Rose admitted that she didn’t like the routine at first. “I hate it,” she told The Guardian. “I watched this pre-recorded video of outside choreographers and immediately didn’t like what they came up with.
She was afraid that dancing would get her a pity vote, adding: “I fully support the idea, as long as it’s not a patronizing ploy. Try to get one. pity votes, all sad, dreary and ‘poor me’.”

The actress continued: “This is what listeners think deaf people go through. “Very isolated, cut off, small. So sad. And that’s not me.”

After redoing the routine, Rose learned to love the dance because it started to make her feel more “real”. She speaks: “[It felt] more true for me. It wasn’t until the camera rehearsal in the studio, when I was told that the crew – who never stopped – had dropped everything they were doing to watch, that I thought: ‘[Explicit]. This can be a big problem.'”

At that point, after the pair danced to their routine, tears began to fall as judge Motsi Mabuse gave an emotional speech and Anton du Beke also cried.
