The 2024 RTS Television Journalism Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in television journalism, recognizing excellence in reporting, storytelling and investigative journalism across a range of categories.

Television journalist awards of RTS 2024

The RTS Television Journalism Awards for 2024 were held at the London Hilton on Park Lane and were hosted by Susanna Reid from Good Morning Britain. Martin Lewis CBE received an RTS Special Award for his significant impact on journalism, particularly in providing clear financial advice to the British public and influencing policy. Kirsty Wark was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award for her outstanding work on BBC Newsnight and her mentorship in the industry.

ITV led the night with six awards, including recognition for their coverage of the Nottingham 2023 attacks and the achievements of journalists such as Jonathan Brown and Daniel Hewitt.

Channel 4 followed with four wins, notably for their program “Russell Brand: In Plain Sight” in the Current Affairs – Home category. Sky News was awarded the prestigious News Channel of the Year title and excelled in two other categories, including the Innovation Award.

Adrian Wells, chairman of the RTS Television Journalism Awards, highlighted the exceptional reporting throughout the year, particularly on issues of conflict and trouble. Journalists have been praised for their insights into various areas such as domestic affairs, politics and the economy, both locally and globally.
