Unfortunately, he died before reaching the base hospital. Colonel Vasant is the first person from Karnataka to be awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime military honour. Rukmini’s mother’s name is Subhashini Vasanth, who is a Bharatanatyam dancer. In 2008, Rukmini’s mother received the Ashok Chakra on behalf of her husband.

Basically, we have one thing in common – loss, but we’ve built an amazing sense of community. A camp is also organized where wives, children and sometimes grandparents attend weekend workshops at a corporate team-building space outside Bangalore. “
