Rumer Willis embraces the beauty of motherhood as she heads into the holiday season.
Talking to PEOPLE about his partnership with Bumpsuit — which is Once upon a time … in Hollywood actress, 35, is credited with changing her maternity and postpartum experience — wearing an Armadillo carrier in an exclusive colorway, the new mom gushes about 6-month-old Louette’s latest milestones.
“She just said ‘Dada,’ the other day, which was amazing,” Willis tells PEOPLE. “He’s really close to full crawling. He can hop around the floor pretty fast.”
“She’s just smiling. She’s such a flirt, she loves people.”
Willis and Bumpsuit debut the Armadillo carrier in “Lou Blue,” inspired by the color of a child’s eyes. The carrier also includes an embroidered weather cover that reads “All You Seek Lies Within You.”
The phrase resonated deeply with Willis, who shares a message for other parents who may be looking for love and guidance during their parenting journey.
“Honestly, being a mom is an experience I’ve dreamed about my whole life,” she says. “And what was amazing to experience was that Lou far exceeded any expectations or any idea or dream I could have had.”

The carrier is convenient when mother and daughter enjoy going out together.
“One of my favorite days and when I use the carrier the most are Sundays. We wake up, probably around seven, and we go to the market. So what I like to do, especially when it’s sunny, I like to put her there and we’ll walk through the market,” she says Willis.
“I love being able to use the cover, especially when she was little and I was so worried about germs, so that was great too.”
The armadillo carrier helped Willis get Louetta out into the fresh air “when it was super sunny out, in the spring when she was born.”
“It was nice to be able to go out and fit in it. She was quite tiny, so she didn’t fit in any other carriers. She was super small, and the armadillo was, I think the only one that actually fit her little body.”

The litter can also be used indoors as lately Lou has been joining Willis in the pottery studio.
“After we got home from the market, depending on what we were doing that day, sometimes my partner, Lou and I would go to the ceramics studio,” says Willis. “We recently took a class there and when I don’t have a friend to come help me or a partner, I have Armadillo.”
“I strapped her on my back last time and I was running around the studio, glazing things. I was working on the potter’s wheel and it was pretty amazing.”
Willis also uses it when it’s time to get things done around the house. “If she doesn’t want to nap or she’s feeling active, we’ll put her in it and do some chores or work, and she loves it.”
Lou was tied to her Armadillo as she enjoyed her first concert recently, watching Derek’s dad Richard Thomas perform.
“I took her to her father’s show at the Troubadour, and I held her in a carrier with little headphones on her ears,” says Willis. – It was so nice for her.
Along with the fun times together, there have also been some more difficult parenting moments, such as a recent illness that killed an entire family of three at the same time.
“We had a rough night, but other than that, I’m very impressed with the children’s resilience. She was sick and had a fever, but she was still Lou. She was still laughing,” says the new mom. “She’s just a little trooper and I’m very impressed with her. And now we’re all good.”
Sharing the ups and downs and building a community around the experience of motherhood has been a “really nice” plus for the actress.
“I think it’s absolutely true what people say about it taking a village to raise a child. And it’s been nice to have friends who also have young children and just be able to experience positive parenting with them and see the milestones that each of our kids hit at different times,” says Willis.
“Children are beautiful and these magical little creatures and to truly witness and be around them as they discover the world, it’s amazing.”
It’s also amazing for a new mom to see Lou continue to bond with all the people who love her the most.
“I think inherently some of the most magical parts of me are definitely from them, so I feel like that will carry over to her,” Willis says of parents Bruce Willis, 68, and Demi Moore, 61. “I love watching them with her.”
“I also think it’s amazing that I can discover myself as a mom and her father, and I discover myself as a parent,” she continues. “We discover how we want to parent and how we take certain things from our parents, but also how we kind of shape new things for ourselves because there’s so much we have access to from our parents. I didn’t.”
Louetta also has a close bond with her aunts, Rumer’s sisters Tallulah, 29, and Scout, 32, and younger sisters Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 9.
“They love her so much,” raves Rumer. “It’s a real pleasure to see. They’re just obsessed with her.”
With the holidays right around the corner, Rumer says she’s looking forward to “all the gifts for me that go to Lou.”
He says of his extended family: “We always do things together at Christmas and everyone has stockings and just to be able to see her there this Christmas is exciting. Christmas is such a big holiday for us.”
The ‘Lou Blue’ Armadillo Baby Carrier retails for $275 and is available now at bumpsuit.co, the perfect gift for new moms this holiday season.
