Russell Dickerson and wife Kailey are expecting another boy: ‘They are so excited’
In April, Russell and Kailey announced their exciting news by sharing a two-part video on Instagram. “God gave me a…. BOY! We are so thankful to tell you that Remington is going to be a big brother this fall!! 🎉🎉,” Kailey captioned the sweet snap in reference to the singer-songwriter’s “God Gave Me a Girl ” “a song.
The clip opened with Kailey smiling in the mirror while holding a pregnancy test. “Oh my God,” she said as their son Remington kept calling for “Daddy” in the other room.
“Will you hold them?” Kailey asked Remington after showing viewers a “yes” on one of the wands. “Let’s take it to dad.”
The camera showed Remington walking down the steps of the family’s outdoor patio to his father, who was doing some chores downstairs. “No, uh,” said a shirtless Russell in disbelief as he saw what his son was holding. “No way!” Russell added with a huge smile as his jaw dropped open, walking over to kiss and hug his family.
The video then transitioned to revealing the family’s gender, as the “God Gave Me a Girl” singer explained that he “wasn’t supposed to know yet,” but the surprise was spoiled in the subject line of the email he received. Kailey, however, didn’t know the gender of their baby yet and opened her eyes to a line of blue balloons as Russell screamed “It’s a boy!”
On New Year’s Eve last year, the couple announced that they had lost their baby that fall.
“2022 has been incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking,” Kailey wrote in an emotional Instagram post on Dec. 31, alongside a photo of her husband and son on the beach looking out into the water. “In the midst of the craziest year we’ve ever had, we lost our baby in September at 8 weeks.”
“I felt like I was drowning and trying to swim towards the sun to find the surface. I didn’t know if I would ever share this, but something about going into this next year, I had to leave this news in 2022,” she said. continued.
“Loss, however, is something that will always be written in our story. I know I will share more about it when I am ready, but for now, and for the last few months, I am holding these two extra close,” she shared.
During the summer, Russell released an EP called Three months Two streets down, which followed the release of his self-titled album last fall. The country musician returns to tour later this month.
