Ryan Hurd Covers Taylor Swift’s 1989 Vault Track ‘Now That We Don’t Talk’: Listen

Ryan Hurd just covered Taylor Swift’s recent release.

On Monday, the country singer released another cover of one of Swift’s songs. Hurd, 37, shared a slow-motion version of the singer 1989 (Taylor Version) vault song, “Now That We Don’t Talk.”

He shared a video of himself singing alongside songwriter Teddy Reimer in a joint Instagram post, with him singing at the piano and Reimer playing guitar in the background.

“Now that we’re not talking from Teddy’s studio. Every time I cover a Taylor song, I’m amazed at how perfectly written it is,” he began in the post’s caption. “I hope everyone is having a great week, tell us what you think about this one and share it with your friends. (also, go listen Platonic in honor of the second verse).”

Hurd’s cover follows the October 2023 release of Swift’s re-recording of her October 2014 album. in 1989. “Now That We Don’t Talk” is Swift’s shortest song to date and chronicles the singer going through an intense breakup. Swift documents the changes in her ex’s life now that they’re no longer on speaking terms. Swift previously said on Tumblr Music that it’s one of her favorite vault songs from the album and that it’s a “punch”.

Hurd is currently going through his own breakup as he and estranged wife Maren Morris, 33, are in the process of finalizing their divorce. The country stars originally filed in October.

Ryan Hurd posted a sexy cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘False God’ — and she approves!

Before Swift’s re-recordings — which began with the release Fearless (Taylor version) in April 2021 — Hurd covered her reputation song “Dress” on tour in January 2019. Shortly after, he released his cover of Swift Lover highlight “False God,” after Hurd covered the song during his Plato’s tour.

Hurd told PEOPLE in May 2020 that he has “a tremendous amount of respect for [Swift] as a writer.”

“[The lyrics are] just very poetic, and I think they feel like rock songs when you start getting into them. When we were doing ‘Dress,’ it was amazing how she thought to add breath — she made sure she could breathe in the chorus,” they told PEOPLE.

He went on to share how Swift’s “False God” reminded him of the writing of Ernest Hemingway. “[‘False God’] the lyrics reminded me of Hemingway’s short story ‘Hills Like White Elephants,’ where these two people have a conversation that kind of revolves around what they’re really thinking,” shared the lyricist. “And so I think it’s fun to do a deeper cut into her stuff because only people who are really into her catalog are familiar with it.”
