Ryan Leone, a writer, died on Saturday, July 2, at the age of 36. Despite the fact that Ryan Leone was a controversial figure due to his past drug use, many have paid tribute to him on social media. Karina Franco, his fiancee, announced his death on Facebook on Saturday. In the post, she said she was in a “state of shock.”
“I honestly have no idea what to say. I’m still in disbelief. However, many of you need this information. Ryan died late last night. My heart and soul have been ripped out. And I apologize for posting this. But this is how I tell you. I don’t have the energy to contact anyone.”
Franco also used George Harrison’s song My Sweet Lord in another article. In that message, she said that she could not “go on without” Leone and that she did everything to save him.
What happened to Ryan Leone?
Ryan Leone took to Facebook on June 29 to share that he has had a lot of medical appointments lately. The 36-year-old claimed in his article that he was first diagnosed with pneumonia. However, this was an incorrect diagnosis, and the writer was diagnosed with “respiratory and gastrointestinal difficulties”.
In his latest Facebook post, Leone wrote:
“I sprained my finger.” Then, for no apparent reason, I went to the hospital twice a week. They informed me that I have pneumonia for the first time. I got a second opinion. There was no pneumonia. This is due to an excessive amount of methadone (170 mg!!) and respiratory and gastrointestinal difficulties. My stomach swells up to the point where I feel like Willy Wonka’s fast-growing puffy doughnut.”
As Ryan Leone dies, tributes pour in.
Ryan Leone was introduced to drugs at an early age. He then joined the Mendoza clan, a notorious drug gang that landed him in prison for five years. During his stay in prison, he wrote his first book. After he got out of prison, he worked on getting sober and started sharing his experiences with others to educate them. Many people took to social media to express their grief over the death of the writer and prison reform advocate. Others said that despite his prison sentence, he was a “decent man at heart.”
Among the recognitions were the following:
Fly high Ryan Leone, you don’t have to suffer anymore, God bless his family.

This is so sad!! He tried so hard to stay clean and tried to help anyone who wanted to be clean. I feel incredibly sad for his wife and young children. I pray that the Creator will cover, protect and comfort them. RIP Ryan Leone

Several testimonials praised Leone for doing his best to stay drug-free and for helping those who wanted to do so. The writer’s fans were obviously devastated by the news of his death.
Leone’s most famous book was “Wasting Talent”
Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, he began writing at an early age, publishing his first short story at the age of nine. In his early twenties, he started working on television and at the same time dealing heroin. He then became engaged to the Mendoza clan of Oaxacan Indians.
After leaving prison, Leon received contracts for two major television series. He also wrote and sold the rights to the movie Wasting Talent to William De Los Santos, who will direct it. The main actor in the film should be Nick Stahl. A feature-length documentary about Leon’s life, Idiot Savant: The Savage Life of Ryan Leone, is also in the works. The writer founded The Prodigy Foundation in 2018. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending mass incarceration and expanding literacy in the US prison system.
