LEGENDARY actor Ryan O’Neal has died at the age of 82.
Love story and actor Peyton Place’s son, Patrick O’Neal, announced the sad news on Friday.

“So this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to say, but here we go. My dad passed away peacefully today, with his dear team supporting him and loving him as he would have us,” Patrick posted on Instagram.
“My father Ryan O’Neal has always been my hero. I looked up to him and he was always larger than life,” Patrick wrote.
Ryan was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe, and was known for his on-and-off relationship with actress Farrah Fawcett.
Their relationship lasted three decades.

Fawcett died of cancer at the age of 62 in 2009.
In 1985, the couple had a son together, Redmond O’Neal.
Ryan has three other grown children: Griffin, Tatum and Redmond.
Ryan’s son Patrick mentioned his father’s relationship with Fawcett in a separate Instagram post on Friday.
“Ryan has never been one to brag, but he has bragging rights in heaven. Especially when it comes to Farrah.
“Everybody had a poster, he had the real McCoy. And now they met again.
“Farrah and Ryan. Missed her terribly. What a hug that must be. Together again,” he wrote.
The actor fought his battle against cancer for years, although the cause of his death is still unknown.
Ryan was first diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia in 2001.
He was later diagnosed with stage two prostate cancer.
The actor told Reuters in 2012: “Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I am happy that it was detected early and according to my outstanding team of doctors, the prognosis is positive for a full recovery.
“I am deeply grateful for the support of my friends and family during this time and urge everyone to get regular screenings, as early detection is the best defense against this terrible disease that has affected so many,” he added.
