Profession
as an actor
Sahil has wanted to be an actor since he was ten years old. After graduation, he moved to Mumbai to fulfill his lifelong dream. Sahil struggled for many years, finding only menial roles in regional films and television shows. He got his breakthrough in 2013 when he played the role of William Patel in the Hollywood film “Basmati Blues” directed by Dan Baron. In an interview, talking about his acting career, Segal said:
This has been a long-held dream. There have been challenges and disappointments along the way. I took one small step towards my goal. Finally, it happened today. “
Segal went through a series of auditions for the film before being cast. He was interviewed via Skype by Dan Baron, then flew to Los Angeles to audition with Oscar-winning actor Brie Larson. Sharing an anecdote in an interview, Sahil said:
At that time, my US visa had just expired and I could not renew it on time. This was a very frustrating moment for me. But there’s nothing I can do about it. A few weeks later, when I was shooting for an ad in Kolkata, I got a call from the casting director asking me to come to Mumbai as the film director was in Mumbai and wanted me to re-audition. “

The actor has a small role in the Amazon Prime web series “Four More Shots Please!” Along with his wife Kirti Kulhari. The play was released in 2019.
Apart from films and TV series, Sahil has also appeared in several commercials.

Sahil’s Hollywood film Basmati Blues created a lot of controversy for its poor storyline and stereotypical representation of Indian culture. In defense of his film, Sahil said:
The director and crew share a passion for Indian culture and history. Their intention is not to mock the culture. People reacted to the movie before they even saw it. ”
