Sabrina Carpenter Reflects on Her Saturday Night Live Musical Guest Debut: ‘I’m Sooooo Not Chill’

Sabrina Carpenter can’t get over her acting debut Saturday night live musical guest.

The singer, 25, sang her hit single “Espresso” during the show’s 49th season finale on Saturday, May 18, which was hosted by actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 43.

The next day, Carpenter shared a clip from her appearance on Instagram, showing her singing lyrics including, “I work late ’cause I’m a singer” during a bar-themed performance.

Referring to the same text in her caption, the musician wrote: “Literally working late because I’m a singer @nbcsnl thank you for being with us I’m not relaxed about it and never will be.”

During her performance, Carpenter also performed a medley of her songs “Feather” and “Nonsense.”

Her show debut also came when Adele mentioned “Espresso” as she took the stage for her Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Speaking about her return to performing in Vegas after a hiatus to rest her voice, Adele said in a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter): “I almost freaked out because my whole body clock was out of sync. . . . Formerly on stage at 11: 30, I was desperate to pee.”

“But I’m always, you know, [going] back to the hotel, to the hotel, whatever, until, somehow, no later than 11:10. And then I have to warm up my voice, then I take a steam shower and things like that,” the British singer continued.

“When I went to bed last night — ’cause that’s really late for me, I’m usually in bed by 9 p.m. — I caught myself singing, ‘I’m working late, ’cause I’m a singer,’ ” she continued, singing Carpenter’s words “Espresso”.

“That Sabrina Carpenter song! ‘I can’t relate to despair.’ That song is my jam!” Adele added.

“Starting tomorrow it’s going to be like, ‘I’m sleeping late ’cause I’m a singer,’ because that’s what I’m going to do tomorrow,” the “Easy on Me” hitmaker later joked.

“Um guys can someone check me out,” Carpenter wrote on her Instagram Stories, sharing a clip of the clip. She also reacted to a Pop base post on X about the video, joke: “all I read was Adele thinking about me in bed <3"

Saturday night live airs Saturdays at 11:30pm EST on NBC and returns for season 50 in the fall.
