- According to Sabourin, she became interested in acting after seeing her oldest brother play Oberon in a high school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Watching her brother made her both envious and inspired.
He changed himself, the complexity of the language (even though I didn’t understand a lot of it), the magic and comedy of it all, and I thought “I really want to do that too!” At that point, I basically wanted to do anything he did… and while he retired from acting after a while, it stuck with me, so it was all his fault.”

So she turned to the Actors Fund of Canada, an organization that looks after the well-being and health of actors and supports them during their vulnerable times of injury, illness and personal difficulties. According to her,
AFC has been helping me financially until my insurance kicked in, providing a compassionate safety net during my difficult times. If I didn’t have the money, I would have likely rushed back to work before my body was ready due to financial pressure; this could have caused further injury or undoed any rehabilitation I had done. Instead, I was able to feel secure, be patient with myself, and focus on getting my body, my tool, back to health.”
