On March 5, 1966, Indian Air Force planes piloted by Rajesh Pilot and Suresh Kalmadi bombed Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram state. Both later became members of parliament and government ministers. It is clear that Indira Gandhi respected and had a place in politics as a reward for those who carried out air raids on her own people in the Northeast. “

In response, Sachin later issued a certificate, which his father had received from President VV Giri on February 10, 1970, when he was commissioned as a pilot in the Indian Air Force. He pointed out inaccuracies in Malviya’s post, stressing that his father did carry out bombing campaigns, but that was in East Pakistan during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, not Mizoram.

.@amitmalviya – You have wrong dates, wrong facts… Yes, as an Indian Air Force pilot, my late father did drop the bombs. But this happened in erstwhile East Pakistan during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, not in Mizoram on March 5, 1966, as you say. He was appointed… https://t.co/JfexDbczfk pic.twitter.com/Lpe1GL1NLB
